FAQ
Q: How many stables can I have?
A: Each person playing Road to the Roses can manage three stables per account. All stables are free.
Q: What are "POWER" horses?
A: "Power" horses are eligible to earn twice as many points as horses not designated as "power" horses. Players may have five horses designated as power horses at any one time. Unlike in years past, all horses in a player's stable are eligible to earn points at all times. However, players can designate five power horses to maximize their scoring opportunities.
Q: How frequently can I change my "power" horses. Can I change horses on the day of a scoring race?
A: After you have signed up and verified your stable, you can change your designated power horses in your stable at any time, except on scoring race days. On these days, players will be prohibited from altering the power status of horses in their stable after 12:00 noon, Eastern Time Saturday. If there are scoring races on consecutive days (Saturday and Sunday), you still will not be able to alter your stable after 12:00 noon ET Saturday of that particular weekend, until the next non-scoring race day.
Q: I'm not sure about the timing of the stable selection, stage winners, etc. Where can I find more information?
A: We have a page that has all the important dates from sign up to the Derby. Click here to read the entire table of relevant dates.
Q: Can I view past performances to help me select my active horses for the upcoming weekend?
A: BrisNet's Ultimate PP's will be available for every prep race on the schedule. Once a race name is highlighted in the schedule, the pp's are available to help you pin down your top chances for that week's races.
Q: I want to do more research on my stable, but I've already signed up. Can I wait until later to make my selections?
A: Yes. You do not need to make your selections at the exact same time as your registration. As long as you remember your user name Login ID and password, our program allows you to make selections separately from registration. Just be sure to make your selections before the signup deadline. Once you submit your selections, you cannot go back and change the horses, jockeys, or trainers in your stable; you can however create an entirely new stable, as there are three stables allowed per account.
Q: Can I make any changes after I have selected my original stable of 10 horses, 2 trainers and 2 jockeys, verified it and made five horses active?
A: No. Once you make your original stable selections (10 horses, 2 jockeys and 2 trainers), submit them, verify them, and activate five runners, you cannot go back and change any stable members. In short, those 10 horses, 2 jockeys and 2 trainers will be in your stable for the duration of the game.
Q: What is the best time to sign up for the game?
A: You want to sign up your stables before the first weekend of scoring races. Players who wait several weeks to sign up will have more timely information about injuries and the overall turn of events on the Derby Trail, but will have missed several contest races. These players will not have as many scoring opportunities as players who sign up early. Additionally, players who sign up early will have a better chance of becoming a Stage One Winner.
Q: I'm confused about the two different supplemental drafts. How many total horses will I have in my stable after each supplemental draft period?
A: The first supplemental draft will be held March 15 through March 19, when you have the option to add three horses to your stable or, if you choose, you do not have to add any horses at this time -- you can wait for the second supplemental draft, which runs April 12 through April 16. If you added your three (3) horses in the first draft, you can now add another two (2) horses to your stable. Or, if you did not select any horses during the first supplemental draft, you can add five (5) horses during this second period. Either way, you will end up with a stable of 15 horses after the two supplemental drafts are complete. The second supplement will include any late nominees to the Triple Crown.
Q: Tell me more about the League feature!
A: League creation adds an exciting element to the game no matter where you rank in the overall standings. During the signup process, every player will have the option to create their own league in which they can compete against friends, co-workers, etc. Basically, you will be able to invite as many people as you want to join your league by simply inputting their email addresses in the appropriate box. Once they accept, all the people in your league can track their rankings and view other league members stables within the league each time they log in to the game. This is a great new addition to the game; even if you find yourself far out of first place overall, you still could be doing much better than everyone in your league, earning bragging rights over your co-workers, family, or friends.
